Title:	Southern Idaho Wildlife Settlement
Description:	<P style="WIDTH: 620px">The Bonneville Power Administration and the state of Idaho are inviting the public to review and comment on a proposed settlement that defines both parties’ commitment to protect and conserve wildlife habitat in southern Idaho. The preliminary agreement between BPA and the state of Idaho would resolve past differences over how much wildlife habitat the federal agencies should protect to compensate for habitat lost to the construction, operation and maintenance of federal dams and reservoirs on the Snake River and its tributaries.</P> <P>Under the agreement, BPA will provide funding to Idaho to implement its Southern Idaho Wildlife Mitigation program that permanently protects wildlife habitat in southern Idaho. BPA is also providing stewardship funding that allows Idaho to administer its program, maintain existing protected areas and protect and restore new properties for  quality wildlife habitat. In return, Idaho will acknowledge that BPA has met its wildlife mitigation obligations. </P> <P>The draft agreement will be open to public comment for 30 days. BPA and Idaho will consider the feedback and decide whether to sign a final agreement this fall.<BR></P> <P>Comment Period Open <STRONG>8/15/2014</STRONG></P>
