I would strongly encourage BPA to enter into agreement with Alcoa Aluminum to provide power to the Ferndale Washington plant. Whatcom County has but a few large employers, and recently lost Gorgia Pacific. The loss of several hundred family wage jobs could have an enormous impact on the financial health of this county. A coworker's husband is facing the loss of his job at Alcoa next month and they are facing winter and the holiday season without that income. I'm imagining her grief times about 600 employees at Alcoa and contractors. Please consider the impact on this community when you make decisions. |
