The following comments were submitted in response to the open comment period described below.

BPA is accepting comments on the draft Environmental Assessment for the proposed Salem-Albany Transmission Line Rebuild, in Polk, Benton, Linn, and Marion counties, Oregon. The proposed project is needed due to the age and deterioration of the two lines.

The draft Environmental Assessment analyzes the potential environmental consequences of the proposed project that would include:

• replacing all components of the two transmission lines, including the wood poles and conductors (existing fiber on both lines would remain),
• activities such as improving, acquiring, and building access roads and removing trees.

BPA will hold two informal, open-house public meetings to answer questions and accept comments on the draft Environmental Assessment. There will not be a formal presentation, so you may come any time during the meeting.
